1. GQS-101 Design of Experiments

This Design of Experiments seminar will teach the technical staff a high-impact methodology for process improvement. The calculations are deliberately kept simple and comprehensible.

 This innovative course is built upon a proven DOE procedure for process improvement. The exercises are based on simple DOE software. Participants are allowed to use Minitab as an optional tool.

Participants will learn an effective experimental design methodology in a teamwork environment to reduce process variation and improve process capability with minimum resources.

 Every participant will apply the basic DOE techniques on a Windows-based computer, and computer simulations will be provided for those who wish to learn more about DOE through hands-on exercises. 

The computer simulations are designed to teach you how to use the DOE software, giving you the confidence necessary to use the methods you learn immediately upon returning to work.

2. GQS-102 Process Modeling

This Process Modeling seminar will teach the technical staff a high-impact methodology for process characterization.  

This innovative course is built upon a proven procedure for process characterization. The exercises are based on Minitab for Windows to perform statistical computations, data management, and statistical graphics. This course is not intended as a complete reference for Minitab for Windows. Rather, it will help participants perform statistical analysis for process modeling.

Participants will learn an effective experimental design methodology to fit mathematical models to data and assess their usefulness with minimum resources in a teamwork environment. Scientific methods will be applied for homoscedasticity, autocorrelation, independence, and collinearity testing.

Every participant will use graphical techniques on a Windows-based computer. Computer simulations will be used for those who wish to learn more about contour/surface plots through hands-on exercises. Computer simulations include a virtual catapult with one response variable and a gasoline engine with three response variables.

Computer simulations are designed to teach you how to use Minitab, giving you the confidence necessary to use the methods you learn immediately upon returning to work.

3. GQS-103 Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) is one of the most widely used and practical tools for analyzing and improving the reliability of products and processes.

This performance-oriented course is driven by the PFMEA methodology, which helps participants apply the learned material directly to their work environment from a practical perspective without using any software. This course offers a structured procedure that can be easily integrated into the quality management system in organizations certified in ISO 9001 or AS 9100.

Participants will appreciate the importance of teamwork in identifying the process’s purposes, potential failure modes, and potential causes. Students will learn how to make successful consensus-based decisions about the risk level of potential failures, risk mitigation plans, and the verification of the effectiveness of the actions taken.

4. GQS-104 8D Problem Solving

The 8D (Eight Disciplines) Problem-Solving process is a systematic method for identifying, correcting, and eliminating recurring problems. It’s widely used in various industries, especially manufacturing, to improve product and process quality.

Participants will appreciate the importance of teamwork in identifying the process’s problems and root causes. Students will learn how to make successful consensus-based decisions about the corrective and preventive actions chosen and verify the effectiveness of the actions taken.

5. GQS-105 Statistical Process Control

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a method for monitoring and controlling a process through statistical techniques. It helps ensure that the process operates efficiently, producing more consistent, high-quality products with less waste.

Measurement System Analysis (MSA) is a critical process used to evaluate a measurement system’s accuracy, precision, and reliability. It helps ensure that the data collected is accurate and consistent, essential for making informed decisions in quality control and process improvement.
